Need engine schematic to show why I am not getting oil pressure reading to my gauge. The oil pressure reading is normally 40 psi how ever this year I am only getting 0 to 15. I have looked at the fitting coming off the block and it appears as though no oil is down in the fitting when inserting a Q tip as it comes out dry. The fine clear plastic tube does not appear to be bound up with old oil. Thoughts? |

any knocking or rattles while running? generally oil pressure problems are on the inside not outside at the gauge. If you suspect a blockage, start the engine with the oil pressure gauge disconnect for a very short time and see what comes out of the pipe. some engines have an oil pressure ball check, if it is stuck open it could be bleeding off the oil pressure, but that is a long shot. another thing I have done on an older engine (not new) is warm it up, then add a quart of kerosene to the oil. run it for a minute or two and change the oil. This will flush out some dirty stuff, But I suspect the engine will need internal inspection anyway. How old is this engine (hours & years) |

Did you change the oil and filter? If so you may have too much oil flowing through the filter and not going to the engine. |
