Here's a video of the first run, after 40 years in the basement of a very old house. Water leaks need to be attended to - gasoline leaks already fixed. The 2 drain cocks on the side of each cylinder a a bit of a mystery. They connect to the cylinder, not the water jacket. They can be seen on the video quite clearly. There is a water drain cock on the rear of the second cylinder. I used it to drain the water - works OK. Here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCo745UWqQc miro ps - all the rotten planking on the boat hull has now been fixed. Next up will be the carving of the stern post and then sealing the hull. |

Miro, The pet/drain cock on the side of each cylinder is a compression release. Neat to see it run Ernie |

BRAVO - nicely done Miro. And interestingly the primer cups are 180 degrees from where they are "supposed" to be yet you have lots of water coming through the exhaust. Also, you seem to be missing the stop switch on the timer handle - want a close-up photo and some sketches? It wouldn't be hard to make one. |

Bob, Having the heads possibly on wrong won't prevent water flow. What it will do is defeat the StL design have water flow from the very top of the water jacket which is also most likely the hottest part (around the spark plug) Note I said possibly on wrong as I don't think Miro has had the heads off. It is possible StL made head castings with the location for the priming cup opposite. There is a core in the casting so it isn't just drill the hole and tap it on the other side. Just my thoughts Ernie |

Thanks for the notes. Yes Bob, I'd like to see the kill switch on the timer handle. That would make it much easier to reverse the engine. Miro Work on the hull is continuing apace - expect to be applying sealer this coming week. |
