I am sending this message from Dick Day's PC following the culmination of an excellent 3rd year show at the Calvert Marine Museum. Weather was not as warm as last year, but at least no rain! The museum bent over backwards to accomodate all of us exhibitors.
Mirro, Bob Price, George with the tugboat... it was great to see you guys and talk engines and boats.
Dick and Barbara, thanks for being such gracious hosts. It's always a treat to see your wonderful collection.

For the second year in a row, I had a emergency come up that caused me to miss the show. By the time everything was ok, it was Sat afternoon and the weather along I-95 was showing too bad to drive up from Fla to see the show on Sunday. I think something is working against me.
I am looking forward to seeing the photo"s when they are posted.

On friday it was so hot I had my shirt off,then on sat and sun you needed two shirts.There was at least some excitment when dave reed got his engine started and when the two steam boats nearly ran into each other.It was the first time I saw one of those running.At least one fellow showed interest in my display of the Homolite and came back three times and took pictures. |

To all the great folks that I met and re-met at Calvert, my very sincere thanks for a wonderful experience. To Ernie for doing his magic and getting my Ferro running, to Mike for talking so much about his marvelous little Stuart engine, to George and George Coates who loaned me some electricity when my battery went dead along with a spark plug and promises to ride on a real tug boat, to Paul and Harry for letting me actually touch the marvelous red engine, to Keith with his unbelievably great old engine, to Miro who was my faithful and most learned companion, to others who were friendly and informative and whose names I do not recall, and especially to be once again in the presence of Dick and Barbara Day; two people who should be declared national treasures.
Life can really be good. |

I haven't been to any other show, where the Organization goes all out to make you welcome and to show their appreciation , for your display, like does Riochart Dodds, Richard Day and the volunteers at Calvert. From placards, to large posters, to providing a excellent free breakfast, a Barbeque, free access to their excellent Museum, a free cruise on the Wm. B. Tennison. Those are a few of the ways they show their appreciation. We need to support this organization. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend, surrounded by really nice people, you need to put this on your calender. And if you have an engine you can't get running, bring it to Calvert. There seems to be a wealth of people willing to help and there is a wealth of knowledge. I think there were at least 4 engines that ran for the first time since being rebuilt or under new ownership. Thanks to everyone for the friendly and informative weekend.
