I am trying to figure out what size my inboard engine is...302 or 351. the plate at the back of the motor just in front of the bellhousing has model no. 990232 M, which tells me year and HP, and serial no. W527351. That's the one I can't seem to figure out, any advice would great thanks and sorry for the stupid question but it's my first inboard (1978 Reinell V1701) excellent boat so far! |

I am not a ford man, but a look in books shows this. 351 and 400 v8s have a fireing order that starts 1,3,7,2 all other v8s have a fireing order that starts 1,5,4.2 Thats counter clockwise on the distributor. |

There is a ton of info on the net to use Ford casting numbers for cubic inch id Just search for "Ford casting numbers" Don't use head casting numbers as some of the 302 heads will fit on a 351. Hope this helps Ernie |
