Gib key construction. How should one go about constructing one? What are the basic features of a gib key? Ramped? Uniform? Thanks a lot.

Lockwood Ash drawings show 3/16" taper per foot. When installing a new key it should be fitted, I use a permanent marker, slide in and out, file the high spot. Try to get complete contact, being sure it doesn't bottom out, if it does you can shim under it.
