'DIXIE' is a 1924 Monterey Clipper commercial fish boat built for the DeMaggio family (Joe's Dad)I've been caretaker since 1983 when I raised her on Bethel Island in the Sacramento delta. She had a single 8 hp Hicks till 2004 which went to Richard Durgee in Fla. A brief run with a Perkins diesel and then the twin in her now. See her in action at my web, www.dixiecharters.blogspot.com She is used in trade all through the tourist season taking folks to see Alcatraz and the sea lion sanctuary. The 1920 Hicks is a fine engine but the compitition is too tough. I am about to repower again. This time with a new Yanmar 40 hp. Sad, but I don't feel too bad since it's not the original and I'm sure it will eventually find a good home. |

Neat old fishing boat. Maybe some day I'll come up and go for a little cruise. Thanks for sharing the videos and info. |

Wow, the 'Monterey' The west coast's most beautiful fishing boat!!
Ever thought of installing a 2-71 jimmy (nice diesl sound for a nice boat). |

Hi Folks, The engine transplant is going along, the Hicks is on a pallet ready for a heavy duty cart and then to my home. Like most projects of this kind I am finding more to do. New prop, new shaft new shaft packing and cutlass bearing. She's 86 years old and every year there is some major project.
With the grace and lots of hard work I'll be back on the Wharf soon. And yes the Hicks will be for sale. |

The 2-71 is a fine engine. I had a basket 2-53 but decided new was the best way to go. As a commercial venture I can now go to the Golden Gate Bridge. I used to turn away 1/2 or more of potential folks for lack of bridge! My contact info is on the web site for anyone interested in owning the twin. |

Mojo w/Hicks 8 hp has lived on Bethel Island for 6 yrs.
I hope to visit SF in Mojo next summer.

This season is just about done. The DIXIE will be chartered fot the World Series if you look closely you may see her in McCovey cove. She'll be flying a flag for the Primium Network. I didn't hook up with the MOJO this summer but look forward to seeing her. |
