Here is a new one . I have met a very experienced collector /restorer who does not use the mollasses method ,''It stinks " he says . He uses bread . Two or three loaves in a 44 gal drum does the trick ! |

Hi Peter, Sounds interesting. I wonder if it's the yeast fermenting that takes the rust off. |

Probably is the yeast Kevin . I will try it myself on the next project. I will buy the bread it would be too muvh to ask my wife to make a few loaves !!! |

Theres an old refraim that goes" blackstrap molassas and wheat germ bread-makes you live so long, you wish you were dead" I understand now that it keeps us out timers from rusting out!! |

Bruce ........I reckon that combination would remove anything ! Think I will start eating Molassess again ! I am starting a restoration on an old Tasman engine . It will be a real challenge because the water jacket is really buggered . I will gry out the bread method of rust removal , i can always resort to the molassess because i know that works . |

Well I threw the Tasman engine in the water bath and then put in three loaves of white bread .........sliced I wonder ? |

Not happy with the bread bath . Have now resorted to the mollasses. |
