* A few more photos would be helpful, any name cast into the bottom of the rear crank housing ? * |

Thank you, very helpful. Would it be possible to restore this engine to running condition? I would need a carburetor (gas or kerosine?) and ignition. Anyone interested? |

* My guess is that the Ignition is already there, inside of the 4 bolt plate on the housing around the crankshaft, does that little vertical pipe rotate the housing back and forth ?? I believe on these engs this is the front end, some engs had a hand crank on the stub of the shaft, the long extended shaft through the fly wheel being the rear or out put to the propeller shaft ? You never know internal condition etc untill hands on but this over 100 year old engine looks basically complete from these photos ?? ** |

This engine was (still is) a basket case when we dug it out, but it seems to be complete. Internals were complete; rings, bore and piston show little wear. If the ignition is as you say all that would be needed is a carburetor. We just slapped it together for the photo shoot. Any thoughts on carburetion? I'm not really that interested in restoring this one as I have too many other projects on deck at present. PM me if anyone is interested in taking it on. I don't have the engine here so I can't give a definitive answer re the vertical pipe |

There are actually quite a few of these floating around. I had one years ago and at that time the best ID I could make was from the Big Yellow Book. The pic there is air cooled however the similarities are very good. Look for Maltby I think Mike collin has the one I had. Hope this helps Ernie |
