It's likely a combination of factors. On cold start up , the oil is quite viscous and you'll normally see higher oil pressures. . Once it gets warmed it thins out and the oil pressure drops. Once the engine is good and hot, the internal parts have expanded some and gets looser than when it is cold, so the pressure would drop again. Oil pressure of 25 to 30 psi is OK if an engine is hot and has been working under a good load. for a while. When things start to get sloppy, you'll see blow by and you'll start consuming oil. If you've got some concerns , the best bet is to monitor oil consumption. There should be very little consumption over a 3 or 4 hour run. miro |

Dosent seem to be using too much oil, I suspect the only solution is to bight the bullet and do a rebuild |

i have an old model peter engine pj3w, generator set, made in england, which still in good condition untill now, my problem is the spare parts is really at scarcity, its water pump is starting to leak out. since this engine was stand bye for quiet a long period of time. and when we revived it, we were succesful. are there still spare parts for this engine? |
