We are currently restoring two Fay and Bowen standard launches - a 22' and a 25'. The owner of the 22' is seeking a Fay and Bowen engine - 5 HP single cylinder two cycle. Any leads anyone can pass on to me?

The last place I saw a 1905 5 -7 hp Fay & Bowen twin was at Hawkeye's shop in 1997. It appeared to be complete. You might want to try Hawkeye, aka John W. Hawkinson, who lives near Paul Smith's college near Lake Placid New York. |

I have a brass plate from an old piece of metal found along the Columbia River near Portland. I says 'Fay & Bowen engine Co., geneva, N.Y.' in the center, "475 rpm" in the lower left, and "no. 1493" in the lower right. Can anyone tell me what this belonged to? Are any records left from this company? |

Can you describe the piece of metal further? The engine may have been nearby. Can't help on your questions except to say it is obviously the factory ID plate from a Fay & Bowen engine, and quite an early one from the low number. |
