Hi, I'm new on this board. Two weeks ago I did'nt even know the existance of a Dunn engine. I was looking for a hit & miss flywheel farm engine but it was not what I was looking for. The guy told me, I have an other engine, but it's a marine engine. I said let's take a look at it. It was supposed to be a 1910 Dunn 2 cylindre engine. The engine was good looking, real clean and was turning free. I said why not and got it for $500 canadian. I've seen a 1911 on a picture and it looks exactly the same. So it could be close to it. My questions are, is there a place where I can find parts for that engine? The carburetor, the magneto or distributor, the water pump are missing. Is it worthed the trouble and money to find the missing parts? I'll send some pictures later. Thanks Phil |

Hi, I'm sorry, I can't send you photos of my engine. I've tried many times but it always failed. I don't know why. Is your adress [email protected] correct? If not let me know. Philippe Labonté |

* Philippe, at the top of this page click on SEARCH and type in DUNN, there is an immense amount of info, look at approx 1909 info with timer on out put shaft. The oiler on your eng was not a factory item, but is a period oiler and makes your eng unique ! * |

Yes, very interesting and very early by the look of it. Can you tell us what area it was used in and where approximately you bought it? The big hand forged lifting eye screwed into the head is a hoot! As for the missing parts, best place to start looking is the man who sold it, and if not him, the place where he bought it. Thanks for posting! |

Hi Robert. I bought it at Michel Prince antique store in Ste-Eulalie Quebec Canada. The salesman did'nt have a clue of any thing exept it was an 1910 dunn engine. If you have further questions feel free to contact me. Philippe |

Hello Philippe, thanks for your reply. I don't have any information to offer, except that as the engine was not scavenged for brass etc., and has obviously sat in a barn or somewhere undisturbed for a long time, it's quite possible that the missing parts were in the same place, just not recognized by the buyer of the engine, if you see what I mean? Where this engine was used the St. Lawrence is fresh water only perhaps? Otherwise it would be much more rusty I suppose. Welcome to the world of old marine engines - they're really much more interesting than engines that stay at home all their lives! |

Hi, can anyone help me with that. My engine does'nt have spark plugs and carburetor. What make and model or number spark plugs and carb do I need? My engine is the one you can see higher and is a Dunn twin circa 1910. Any help would be apreciated. Thank you. Philippe |
