A nice guy says that this may be an Elbridge engine made in Syracuse, NY. Any body agree or disagree? I got this engine frozen in the tundra during the winter up by winnepeg. |

Bill. I have an Elbridge cataloge from 1910. I also have two Elbridge engines. Although there are some similiarities, there are differences. The holes in the flywheel don't seem correct, and the inspection plate for the crankshaft is different. The water transfer from the head to block is not on my engines or catalog. Possibly they changed in different years. For whatever its worth. Keith |

I agree with Keith, it doesn't look much like an Elbridge. I have a three cyl Elbridge and the crankcase is og a wholly different design, the Crankcase and cylinder are integral. IN this case case the crankcase mount looks very much like a very early rochester. Rochesters after 1907 had solid heads but the very earliest make and breaks of 1898 had detachable heads. There are too many missing parts to make a clear ID. If the rochester theory holds any possbilities I would pace it about 1903-1906. |
