If you could post a picture, I oculd probably date it. Aerothrusts are very rare and valuable outboards, althrough more fun to restore and look at than run. They have the effect of a really big fan but have very little pushing power given the noise. Aerothrust lasted from 1915-1922. The earlier models had a square tank, the later models had a round tank. |

The rope start sheave is just like the ones I keep seeing on the Evinrude rowboat motors. It could have been added sometime in the past by the motors owner |

George , I sent you an email. Propwash you motor is from about 1917 up . LaPorte Ind. was there last address and ads. support this time frame .The rope sleeve is an add on. where the bolt is that holds the flywheel there should be a special shaped bolt that would accept a crank handle . |

Hay Roger, I use to live in Hillsborough Calif. but now I'm in Woodstock Maine. My prop and every thing are in pretty good shape. My coil wire is rubbing on the inside of the mag. I think I can shim it out to avoid shorting. The popet valves seals well. I could use some expertise on the holly drip (carberator) system Dec 22 1914 pat. pend. I'll work on sending pictures for now.P |

Hillsborough Calif is the high rent district. Im over in the mud flats of Fremont. I spent a year in Mass. and went through Maine a few times. The main thing I remember is the bitter cold. I could never get used to that. Interesting enough we have the bay just a short trip from where I live and I have never found an antique engine here. They must have been scrapped during the war efforts of WW2 |

Dear Aerothrust enthusiast, I recently found this engine block. It's a (2) stroke/ cast iron/ 65mm bore with brass bushing. No numbers name plate or brand inlayed. Im trying to figure if it's an outboard/stationary/aerothrust perhaps? I'll appreciate any comment. [email protected] |

Looking for some feedback on this odd bird found this week. Tag reads PORMO, and looks like SG8723 ( could be SC 3723 hard to read ). Research so far tells me that the PORMO was for industrial ? Maybe someone did some interchanging ? Is that "stand" a custom work ? Or is it the normal stand used on ice boats ? Thing has compression and I'm really tempted to fire it up...! We looked and didn't find any shrouds. Aerothrust is available. Thanks in advance, Ramblin Randy

I was under the impression the PORMO was a stationary type. I'm attaching two scans of a PORMO I had that was a stationary engine. My unit had a much newer carb mounted on a fabricated intake manifold. You can see the fins on the heavy cast iron flywheel. My tank had three compartments; one for the fuel mix and one for lube oil for the drip oilers. I forget what the other was for. |

I am looking for more information on an AEROTHRUST out board motor. It is in very good condition and has not been restored. An oiler has been added to the tank, but the decal is still there. From what i can tell the only thing missing is the prop and the guard for the prop. If there is anyone that could give me more info and an estimated value for this motor, would be wonderful. Thanks |

Thomas you are correct about your pormo .Wowabunga's is a pormo that has been converted back to possible a sled . The other compartment on the tank was sometimes used for kerosene , you would start on gas then switch . I'm enclosing pics of two different stationary aerothrust pormo's. Richard Hiiuvain |

I pretty sure that the motors with the fan blade flywheels were stationary engines, every single boat motor I have seen has either a solid flywheel or no flywheel at all, Mine does not. It uses the Prop as one. Roger |

Roger I made my statement based on the fact that the motor has a pormo tag on it which where stationary motors . Ones from sled had aerosled . Basically there all the same motor just different tags . Richard H. |
