Got an interesting problem. I have managed to strip off a few teeth of the bakelite (an early type of laminate) gear that drives the brass distributor gear on my 1937 Lugger 4-119. The gear looks like it should be replacable, as it is mounted to a removable rectangular plate at the back of the engine block. Having a hell of a time finding one though. The specs on the gear are: 2 5/8" diameter 1/2" thick There are (supposed to be ) 19 teeth on the gear. Each tooth is approx 1/8" wide with an 1/8" gap between them. Anyone have any idea where I might locate one of these babys? I've tried Lakeland Marine in Port Clinton, Ohio with no luck (and they usually have everything). Any other ideas or options would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Howard |

Try looking at the engine as a Continental and try the Auto parts houses or engine rebuilders. You might try Van Ness Engineering at 201-445-8685 |

I have a Gray model 32A circa 1930 that is missing the carb and carb mounting flange. The intake pipe is copper 1 1/4 inch directly off the manifold. Despite looking for over a year I can find no reference or info to this model. Jim |

The people in St,Charles IL once told me that most of what they have starts in the 1930's. The have a lot of information stored in file cabinet drawers from what I know but I don't know if it is in any order as I've asked them about some things and they never answered. Again I would contact Van Ness Engineering as they have quite a bit of information on Gray marine engines. Dave is a great preson and will try to help you in any way he can. |

Winterizing... I have pumped 4 gallons of RV antifreeze through the engine and opened the drain on the pump, manifold and on the lower rear of the head (pictured near the coil). Is there another drain any lower? I can't seem to find one and just want to be extra cautions. I opened all three drains and plenty of antifreeze drained out. Any suggestions would be helpful. - Bill
