I have been playing around with two wico maggys,i have been cleaning them up with the aim of keeping one and selling the other. I bought a tune up kit that has the points , a rotor arm and a condenser, this was to go into the maggy that has a great spark. I put the tune up kit in, no spark i put the old parts back in , no spark. There is absolutely no spark what so ever from the maggy that previously would make your arm ache if you got a jolt. Does anyone have any ideas? Regards Matt. |

Matt, Check your wiring, especialy where the insulating washers are located. Also check you have not dropped the insulating sleeve from the points where the wires and nut fit on. Dave. |

Dave and Neil, i had another go at getting it right, and put the old points and condensor back in the maggy and gave the impulse a whirl, ouch back to normal, thanks for your replies. Here is the info on a magneto repairer that i have been put onto by my motorcycle contacts. Peter Scott Motorcycles Magneto Services 44 Ravel Street Seven Hills, NSW 2147 Tel 02 9624 1262 Regards Matt.

Hello Matt , Glad you got it going -feels much better when you can work it out yourself. Sorry about the shock but it does serve a purpose ! Appreciate the info on Peter Scott .Seems to ring a bell now and I had suggested to others to try motorcycle people. Is the tune up kit a dud ? G'day Todd , Am still coming to see you but will wait until the Davistown Regatta is over . I'll bring a few magnetos which are not required at the moment and discuss a number of other items with you .Looking forward to it. Cheers lads |
