Maybe. The only identifiers are the Y400A 505 on the block. Oddly enough, that is a piston number.

Not a velvet drive?...darn,...and that was the part we thought we had down.....

Y400 Is a Continental designation. Continental was the base engine for many Gray Marines

Is that particularly telling? Does this tell us anything that might translate into something more specific?

This engine is completely foreign to me. I have never encountered one like this.

Is there something else I should be looking for?

Just that it is a smaller CID motor. Is there a dime size disc on the carb? If so get me the numbers on it. Your gonna have to get real close as the numbers are tiny. Some times the numbers tell what engine the carb belongs to.

Looks like a Gray to me.40 horse. Chopped up a bit with the jack shafts and Alt. Missing bell/flywheel housing I think?

Just my opinions I could be way off. I have a Gray in my Lyman Islander but its a 1947. Same trans type though.
