Timing a 2 cyl 2 stroke.

I have 2 buzz coils and it's wired correctly. my question is...do i put the timer handle straight back when #1 cylender is at top dead center or something else? thanks Bryon   jb_castagnos Senior Member Username: jb_castagnos Post Number: 471 Registered: 07-2002 Posted on Friday, September 11, 2009 - 09:17 pm:        If the engine is reversable, set the timer in the center with the piston straight up,doesn't matter which one as long as it's on the piston that's firing. If it's not reversable, the timer travel will be limited, you will want it towards the retarded side with the piston up, this will allow more advance. Reversable timers usually swing at least 70 degrees or more, allowing full advance in either direction. Single rotation timers are usually limited in travel, probably 45 degrees.
