I purchased a Hercules 6 cylindar engine a time back and am trying to find what I have. It has a single updraft carb which may mean it is a KFL. I found a CC serial # that has been ground off and stamped with a new one. It is at the rear right side, under intake manifold. Is there any other place it might be stamped? This could be a hot engine but what can I do? It has been ten years since I found it. |

Post a photo if you can. or email them direct to me [email protected] Here is a quick guide to the smaller K series of Chris-Craft converted Hercules engines. Intake and exhaust cast as one ring on face of flywheel about 1/4" high and 2" wide=K 95hp Separate intake and exhaust 1 carb ring on face of flywheel about 1/4" high and 2" wide=KL 105hp Separate intake and exhaust 1 carb flat face on flywheel= KLC 120HP Separate intake and exhaust 2 updraft carbs flat face on flywheel= KFL 131hp Separate intake and exhaust 3 downdraft carbs flat face on flywheel= KBL 131hp It is common to chance the serial number on engines to match the old one when swapping engines. There is also a small dime size tag on the Zenith carb with numbers on it. I can run those numbers to see what engine the carb was made for. |

It looks like the intake and exhaust manifolds are 2 pieces. The flywheel is flat. The carburator tag reads 11168A. Someone did a pretty poor job of stamping of engine because the numbers are almost impossible to read. Thanks again |
