I received the following from Don:

I am contacting you from Ausralia. I have been seeking information for a number of years on a Waterman unit I have. It is branded

Uni-Lectric
Gasoline-Electric Unit
LIGHTING SYSTEM

Manufacturerd by
Waterman Motor Company
Detroit USA

Other detail on the orignal plate says it is a Model F Serial No17667 Type 7V4W ModelG3 1/1 B. 110 Volts Direct Current Generator. US Patent No 1208359 (I have this patent record).

Do you, or any of your friends in machinary restoration have any information on my unit and/or the Waterman Co, of Detroit?

I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Don

Hi Don The Waterman company manufactored Inboard marine, Outboard motors, fire pumps, Generators and most likely other equipment I haven't run across yet, I have the inboard, Outboard and firepumper but do not have a unit like yours as they were few and far between. They sold out to Arrow manufactoring in the 1916/17 era. I sure would like to see some pictures of your unit, I collect and restore them. There are some very knowledgeable collecters on this site, so Im sure more information will follow shortly
Roger, way out in Fremont, California.

This picture of the Waterman Uni-Lectric is from the April 1915 Power Boating magazine. Possibly built by Western Motor Company of Detroit and sold by Waterman. The cast iron base had 3 separate compartments: one for oil, one for water, and one was the muffler.1915Uni-Lec..

These engines, do not look like any Waterman's I have ever seen. I wonder if Waterman Put their name of other manufactors equipment and retailed them. They almost look English to me.
