Reading history of Lockwood-Ash Mfg Co., seems that the first marine engine was made in 1904 under the name Lockwood Brothers. Mr Ash joined as a partner a few years later(name was changed) and brought with him the technology of spark plug manufacturing. 1908 saw first production of spark plugs, Ash died in 1921 and name changed to Lockwood Motor Co., the production of spark plugs and inboard engines ceased, their energies were then devoted to outboard production and they merged with Out board Motor Corp. in 1929. They remained a division of that Co. until 1930-31 but fell victim of the depression ! > Anyone have or know of these spark plugs ?? |

Richard, Sterling spark plugs were manufactured by Lockwood Ash. There were plugs manufactured with Lockwood Ash on them but they are rare. Ernest Felterman remains in touch with Dave Lockwood and has a lot of info from him. I'll have to dig through my files and see what I have on them. J.B. |

Thanks J.B. I wonder if all of their engines were shipped with these spark plugs as original equipment? |
