Anyone know what fuel pressure these are supposed to run at? Going to replace the mech fuel pump with an electric. Just want to make sure I'm not supplying too much pressure/fuel. |

anyone know of replacement mechanical fuel pump for a gray marine fireball 225. I have tried amc, nash & Hudson all have the secondary vacuum system. I also installed a early 60s off amc / jeep but the arm was angled wrong. thanks clive |

About to buy a 1961, 31' Marinette with a Gray Marine 225. Boat is all original but the owner advises that he is smelling raw Gas when he runs the engine. He had an electric fuel pump installed recently and I suspect the pressure may be to high. Have found two post and one recommends 2 - 3 lbs and one 5 - 8. Strange manifold and appears to have 2 one barrel Carbs. Can someone help with this. Great site, thanks for allowing me to join. |

What you have is the Carter YH carbeurators. They are the same as used on the Corvair Monza. Rebuild kits are readily available. The gas smell is possibly coming from a stuck float or an unseated needle valve in the rear carbeurator. When I re-did mine I converted the chokes to electric. The ones from Summit that fit a Holley 4160 fit right on. Far more reliable than the thermal tube coming from the manifold. |
