nick, i have a 3 hp watkins engine ser# 172 . mine is complete as far as a know as my dad had it running about 40 years ago. my step grand father obtained it at the shipyard in superior, wisc. it was used in a small boat which delivered goods to the iron ore boats . i'm not sure how to sent pictures to you. although i could send them e-mail to you. art |

Thanks Art for the photo. I have to make the top part of the advance/retard lever as mine is sawn off about half way up!

I just found this website and was surprised to see someone else has a Watkins Motor. Mine is also a 3 hp. No. 150. It looks considerably different than yours. My family acquired it at an acution in 1950 or 1951. I have no idea what kind of boat it was in. In 1961 as part of a shop project I bolted it to a bench and had it running. Thought I might put it in a boat, but not yet! I also have the propeller that was used with it. My attempt to upload a photo has failed, but I can probably email one if interested. |
