hello to all, and thank you for this great site !. am hoping someone might be able to give me some imfo on this little australian made vinco twin. what hp , rpm,aprox date and what size prop? the little clinker is 16 foot long ,planking is good but needs a few ribs i was told she came from lake macquarie in NSW aus could this hull have been built by vinco?. any imformation would a big help! thanks steve.

I think the twin is 10 hp
I dont think the hull is a Vinco
You have a Blaxland muffler and cone clutch
Depending on the distance between the center
of your prop shaft and the bottom of the hull,
possibly a 12x13 or 13x13 prop.
Vincos revved a lot more than Blaxlands.
I'll do a little digging and find some data
in a Vinco manual when I find it |

Stephen, your Vinco engine develops 10hp at 850rpm.
The twins seem to have come on the market in the later 1950s and would have gone into the 60s at least. The bore and stroke is 3.5 inches and it weighs 230 pounds.
It is interesting to note that apart from the Vinco carby that yours has, an Alpha could be supplied for an extra 10 pounds, which sounds like a fair bit extra.

Good to see another Vinco Twin owner. Great 2 stroke, powerful motor and is well engineered. I have 2 twins one equipped with a Vinco carby and the other an Alpha.

thank you,i only just got this a few days ago so havent had much of a chance to look to close yet. the engine has very good compresion and the maggy throws a good spark, the vinco carby is cromed brass, and very solid. seems a big engine as the hull is very lite in construction, very fine in the bow 16'x5'4"beam, id say she will go like cut snake!! there ist alot of aperturae i might get a 12" prop but thats all, the bloke i bought it off said the prop is still around so i might get it yet. is the vinco able to run in reverse? will give you a ring Bernie. and thanks again to all regards Steve Craig. |
