Goodday In the first photo--it looks to me if it was run this way (the exhaust facing up)the cooling water would flood back into the exhaust valves & wreck the engine--??? Larry Healey |

Comment on this thread: Winter Boredom,cabin fever ice,snow and low temperatures. Ernie also asked if I thought my Powerstroke Diesel would fire up if it were in the north now. Things are a bit different down here in south east Florida. We don't have much in the way of cabins, we do have Cabana's on the beach though, and one sign of winter here is that the girls start putting the tops of their bikini's on, that complicates things a little by covering up the low temperature indicators that we keep a close eye on all year so that we can tell when winter is here?? Richard, I am going to be in Miami the week of Feb 17th. How far are you from there? Additionally I am taking blood thinners so I wont sludge up from the unrealistic high temps. :-) E |

Anybody think the 3rd engine under the Haase advert. really unusual? (red primer with an oil-pull tractor in background.) Looks like there is not near enough room for the crankshaft to be dirrectly rod-connected to the pistons. It also looks like the eccentric arm runs a valve rocker of some kind?? Any more info or pictures on this one?? I notice that bikini tops falling is a heck of a lot nicer thing than leaves falling :-) Tom |

Tom, it is more unusual than you think. it has 6 pistons, 4 up and 2 down, 6 connecting rods, ignition is fired through the head. Two valves off a side cam, no intake valves. I will start a new thread on it if people want to see more pictures. I really wish it was mine. Picture #1 no idea #2 valley boat and engine company, baldwinsville,ny 1909 #3 unknown, very strange, 6 pistons, found at bottom of a lake. #4 My big 1924 60 hp Red Wing, and little kermath #5 don't know, saw at swap meet. #6 Car engine at Indy museum. |

Ernie,Thats great your coming to Miami,I'll be there too at the Miami Boat show feb 13-17. The 18th and 19th we'll be bringing our display boats back to our office/marina in Palm Beach gardens about 85 miles north,I live about 50 miles north, if your not on a work week maybe you would like to ride back with me on one? We'll have a 48'a 55' and a 70'DYNA Euro yacht to choose from, I'll get you back to Miami.The 70' has a pair of 1338 Cubic inch V-12cyl Man Diesels at 1300 shaft HP each, and she cruises at 30 KTS.Walk in eng room you'll love but if you want to tune it up a bit bring your lap top! About taking blood thinners, we sip on the same stuff down here on two occasions only, when the sun is either under or over the yardarm?? Leaving 5;00Am in morn heading NW 2 1/2 hrs to Fort Meade to Florida Flywheelers Annual Swapmeet, plenty of old iron there!! I'll call you next week on the land line to talk!! /image{70Dyna}
