Merry Christmas to all motorheads and rust collectors!
The pictures on Ebay of this Wisconsin AM-4 scare me as there is no flywheel or crank shaft snout visible. Only one question out of several emails to the seller have been answered as follows: "Does not seem to have a flywheel, am told that maybe it should have a hand crank?"
The Wisconsin AM series uses a large flywheel. Early models were not equiped with starters and later models had ring gears on the flywheels as an option.
Both of my engines have crank snouts that protrude from the front packing by a good 5".
If anyone ends up with this engine, they are more than welcome to contact me as I have two of these (model AM-4) undergoing restoration. I do not have much info (and am always looking) but will be happy to help.

I was thinking something did not look right with the engine but could not figure out what. See now about the flywheel. Guess at 68 I"m starting to lose it.
Maybe time to sell all my Palmers and flywheel engines to get ready for the nursing home.

This looks like an empty shell. Probably from a static display. No crank, flywheel, probably nothing inside ( piston, rods ) with a nasty manifold repair as well. Bill |

Well, long after the auction ended I did get another email from the seller (after 2 more requests). I thought the group might be interested to see what he wanted for this Wisconsin and the answer to my (our) questions:
"The Wisconsin is most likely empty inside, was intended as a display piece and looks good but is not a runner. Hope to get about
$2200 for it."
So much for that engine!
If anyone needs to get in touch with the seller, I do have his name, address, phone and email.

Wow.... and he failed to mention in the ad that it was an empty shell!!!  ... I guess that is what "as is" meant. Adds new meaning to the phrase "buyer beware"! Thanks for the update Lew. |
