I friend of mine was visiting the DisPro area up in Port Carling and when I was introduced to him, he said his name was Petrelli - I ( of course) immediately asked if he was part of the Peterelli clan of Snow and Petrelli.
His answer was interesting - he said there was a family tradition of a great uncle who had something to do with marine equipment, but that was about it.
So, guys, how about we help this young guy from Nashville (yes he was visiting the great wite north - there's about 10 in of snow on the ground) discover the history of his family.
Anyone got a rundown on the history of the gear business?

The modern incarnation of the company has nothing in the way of records they told me years ago. From the above article, it seems that Mr. Nabstead joined the company quite early, but the name Snow & Petrelli was retained some years after he did so, even though Mr. Petrelli had left. Interesting. When did they become Snow & Nabstead? |

Joseph Petrelli left Snow & Petrelli Co. in 1916, found this 1917 ad.

My library stops early 1940's, in 1941 The Snow & Petrelli company name was still advertised.
In some small ship building journals early 1950's I have found several references to Snow & Nabstedt Revrese Gears being installed !

Ray Bolling told me the reason Palmer gave up the Snow and Nabstedt reverse gear on the model BH is that company went belly up. Palmer switched to the Paragon OXKB reverse gear which lived on for many more years with the P-60 and others. |
