I have a 6 volt Hercules 6 cylinder in a CC. It has a push button ignition switch and a key. When I turn on the key and press the button, the engine turns over but there is no spark until I depress the button immediately. After the button is depressed it sparks with the last revolution of the engine, most of the time not enough to start it. I have installed a Pertronics electronic ignition 3 years ago. I by-passed the ignition switch and the button and went straight to the engine and tried with the same results. Any body ever had this problem before? It seems to me there is a ground happening while the started is running but where to start looking? |

I'm a little confused. Did you mean that there is no spark until you "release" the button? I am thinking that the starter may be drawing too much amperage from the battery while the engine is cranking. When the starter is released the drain from the battery decreases and then the ignition has enough power to spark. |
