i was given a 1970 seabird with twin 4cylinder inboard engines they have fomoco on them,the # on 1 motor is 93351 ,on other motor93436,cam# isMC24137,crank#2737E,they are gas engines,i know nothing about boats or motors ,but we would love to rebuild these motors but,ford cant even tell me what motors they are or what year ,can anyone out there please help me,thank you |

Somewhere i have a partial key to fomoco numbers. I will be shows for the next few days so i may not find it soon. |

They MAY be Mercruiser blocks with 429 Ford heads
I don't remember when Mercruiser made them, but they were never a real good engines so be carefull how much time and money you put in them.
If you can get a casting number off the head I may be able to assist you.

You want to look in the 385 series heads

If you can post pics of them I can possibly assist. If they are apart just set the head on the block and then the valve cover on the head.
Also are they gas or diesel?

this is the numbers i found on the head T1,37,and the block has this number on it 681F6015DA,also there is a N and T1 and D-A,i hope these numbers will help identifying these motors ,thanks everyone for all your help |

i will try to get pics asap,i seen a pic of a kent 1600 ohv , it is identical to the motors on boat ,is that possible that they are car motors |

I have not found my book yet. I agree with ernie the numbers posted don't look like ford. |

okay ,this is what i have so far its a ford kent 1600 ,where the propellors are it has OMC ,then beneath that it says type c oil,the reason i believe they are these motors i seen a picture of a kent 1600 and they are identical,im greatful for all of the help,what i would like to know is how do i go about getting parts,do i look for omc parts or do i look for kent 1600 parts since its the head gaskets and o rings that i need,they are gas,and the boat is 23 ft long i dont know if that make a difference |

They are the same as the 1600 Ford Escort and Cortina and Capri. I do not know the actual model names for the USA.
Any FOMOCO Dealer should have the parts required. OMC too costly.

thank you very very much i was checking out prices on omc parts and they are very expensive,i will go to ford dealer in the morning to see what i can get ,again thanks everyone for all of your help |

I'm not sure what parts you need, but don't use any automotive parts that are electrical such as a stater or distributor. Marine parts are more spark resistant because a boat is much more prone to explosion from gasoline vapor than a car is...
There are lots of postings about the difference between automotive and marine parts on the marineengine.com board. |
