G'day from down under:

Is it practical to use the existing v-drive if I re-power my boat?
Also, do you know what brand of V-drive was married to the Palmer P-60 engine? My Palmer is in a Columbia 34 Mk II sailboat built in 1971. I want to drop in a Yanmar 18 hp with a shaft drive transmission.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I'll be selling the Palmer or parts.

Kind regards,

I think it was made by Paragon the maker of the reverse gear. Will try to dig up a brochure I have if I can find it to confirm. It would seem to me it would not be easy to interface to Yanmar shaft drive without making up a housing and bearing support to make up for the portion now provided by the Reverse gear housing. Also the oil supply is shared with the reverese gear so provision for oil retention/replacement will have to be made. Best I can do on short notice.
