This artifact was located on a shipwreck off the coast of New England of a possible fishing vessel equipped with a 6 cylinder Atlas or Fairbanks Morse diesel engine (circa 1940s). The artifact is made out of brass or bronze and is possibly associated with the vessel's engine. I am trying to identify this artifact to help date and possibly identify the vessel.
There were several of these artifacts on the shipwreck site roughly all in the same location.
I have included photos of both sides of the item (see below)in hopes that someone will be able to help me figure out what it is.

looks like part of the cooling system to me. a flow restrictor on the exhaust manifold maybe. |

Dear Enthusiast, Im trying to identify this (2) stroke engine. No numbers/name plate/ or brand name inlayed. It's made off cast iron,63mm bore,brass bushing and graser. Any ideas???
