What do I have here? Johnson 7.5 seahorse serial number 1528368. What is the gas mix used? I need a manual. Any value to the motor?

Hi- the only 7.5 HP Johnsons were 1956(model AD10) 57(11) & 58 (12) They used 24:1 fuel:oil mix This can be thinned out to 30:1 or so with the new hi-grade 2-cycle oil. |

This site, OldMarineEngine is really for antique inboard engines, not outboards.

Hi, I just bought a 57 Johnson model # AD11 motor runs fine but one of the freeze plugs blew out & I thought that I maybe soder a plug in its place. Is this possible. I have no info in my old repair manual. |

Freeze plug? All I can think of is a plug about 3 eights of an inch in dia at the top and bottom of the water passage in the head.
The other part that looked like a freeze plug was where OMC put the serial number and it won't matter if it isn't there.
Just about all parts for that motor are still available from a good OMC dealer
Or send me a pic. I most likely have one.

Is it one of these 3 plugs? If so OMC should still have them. If not a good automotive machine shop should have them. You could also glue them back in with a good epoxy like JB weld.
If you remove the head to replace them the headgasket is available on the other part of this web page which is MarineEngine Dot Com

You should verify that model number. It probably isn't 1880860 . Is it an 18HP? The possible model numbers are shown here:
old Evinrude model numbers
could it be 18803 ? That would be an 18HP 1968.

I am having problem keeping engine running. Fires real good when I put starter fluid - shuts down quickly. I removed line that runs to carb and pumped the gas tank - fuel seems to be moving fine. Any suggestions, especially if I think next move is to take carb off? Thanks! |

I just bought a Johnson SeaHorse 7.5 outboard.
Model AD-12
Serial 1672933
(Any idea what year this us?)
Tiller is broken. Where can I get parts for this thing? Seller says runs fine but no way to change gears with handle broken. It looks like they "fixed" it many times over the years but I'd rather just find a new/used handle for it.
If you could point me in the direction of a website that offers these old parts I'd appreciate it. |

I have a Jonson 7.5 that's blowing exhaust out the water tube and no water I can blow back trough the "pisser" and it's open I believe the water pump is working? I'm lost though |

I just got a Johnson Seahorse 7.5 hp that was told is a 1956 A10 model
The only # that looks like a serial is on the plug on side of lower engine is # 1513177. The engine cover says Johnson.
I am wanting to know actual year and where to find a manual and parts listing for it. It appears in great shape other than sat for years. |
