I'am looking for a manifold for the P60 engine. The manifold does not have to be useable but in one piece. Is there any information on the company that bought out palmer? Are they still in business to be contacted? |

Welcome to the wonderful world of Palmer. It's been 30 years since the last P-60s were built. Parts peculiar to Palmer engines are not availiable new and can only be gotten from salvaged P-60s. There is no aftermarket support either. Such is the case with the exaust manifold. Some parts are common to the International Harvester C60 tractor engine and are obtanable new. A few of the outer components are common to other marine engines. There is considerable interest in P-60s by some of the diehards who still have them but understand that for practical purposes you are dealing with an antique. |

Jeff,
Crusader bought out Palmer. They are still in business but I don't think they have any info on Palmer. If you find that they do, please let us know. |

According to my records from Sept. 1999 the marketing for the Palmer P-60 among a number of engines was acquired from Crusader in 1998 by Pleasant Craft.
The telephone number for the Pleasant Craft Distributor in Maryville, WI. At that time was Tel. 800/992-3878
As I recall the conversation they had very few parts for the P-60 and NO, REPEAT NO exhaust manifolds. |

The Fellpro gasket kit for Cub C-60 has a two piece manifold gasket. I thought the one I removed was one piece, but looking at the stains on the manifold, it looks like it once had a two piece gasket. Is the two piece solution suitable for salt water marine use? |

Yes, that's good for the exaust manifold. The head gasket is the one you need to worry about. |

You are probably right Andrew. It was years ago and the guy was totally indiferent to my questions. They were obsolete engines and he no longer had any interest was the impression he left me with. That was at the same time guys on the west coast were naming guys on the east coast that were making P-60 exhaust manifolds. When I managed to contact both partys they were surprised that the other was not making $500.00 replacement manifolds. So it goes when trying to ferret out the truth. As far as I can tell the P-60 always used the two exhaust manifold gaskets of the Cub Lo-Boy and not a single gasket. The exhaust gaskets are still available from Valu- Bilt tractor parts. |

I would like to know is there big demand for new manifolds. I have some who can make new ones if there is a demand. It will cost me for tooling & set up. I will soon have web site up. I also have parts for palmers & rebuild palmer engines.

Well, the manifolds are one of the parts not common to the tractor engine. They are subject to corrosion also. So as the manifolds go, so go the serviceable P-60 engines. Thus far I have been told that reproducing the manifolds would be cost prohibitive and serviceable manifolds are stripped off of junked engines to keep the surviving engines going. I can't imagine that there are that many Palmer die-hards out there to make it profitable for you |

After many good years of service I have to change the manifold on my P-60. Does anybody know where I could find one?
