Hay guys I was wondering if any of you could help me date this engine and may know what carburetor belongs on it. Thanks Scott

Stanley DuBrie designed several different marine engines right at the turn of the century, in 1906 he designed the first 2 stroke engs for "Gray Marine Engine Co."
1923 He formed a new Company with an all new design 4 stroke marine eng that had 42 of its parts replaceable with FORD parts ( your engine}.
The first engs in 23 had a Bosh magneto by 1928 they had the square mag like yours.

Richard,
So were the con rods and pistons from the Ford Model T engine used on the Du Brie? Or was it just the carburetor that was "borrowed"?

Don't I remember a find in a Chicago warehouse of about 150 of this engine model in crates back in the 1960s?? |

I would think it used model T piston,rings, wrist pin, rod, bearings, valves, springs, lifters, timing gears, and carb. Add some bolts and nuts and you could get to 42 parts |

I was offered a new in the crate DuBrie several years ago, they were asking $1400. I felt like it was a lot of money for a motor that would lose value if you run it. I'd rather have a worn out motor I can run than a new one I can just show. |

Thanks Guys Thants for all the information great ads. The best part is that I was going thru the junk pile and the only thing that would fit this engine was a Holley Model-NH off a model T.had to order a new float needle and seat maby we can run it at Mystic Scott |

JB the more I think about it the story was a man bought a warehouse in Chicago and among the stuff stored was approximatly 150 Dubrie NOS in crates. He started selling the Wico magnetos off for $150 each until he got wise the engines would sell better when complete. Don't know wjat the rest of the story is but that could explain the occasional surfacing of a Dubrie still in the crate. |

Richard their was one in the crate at the Zagrave farm museum swap meet last year for $2500 it was to much for me so I did not look to close. |

I have one of these engines out here on the west side. mine is missing the mag brack and the trip assembly. Do you have the ability to have the castings made? I can do the machine work.
I would be happy to talk to you on the land line.

The holley nh is the correct carb for that engine.before running it,make sure the oiler is working.I have to clean mine before I run it.It only gets run every few years. |

Hello All - We have a 20 ft em white motor canoe just about restored and engine ready - we have a Dubrie - all rebuilt but missing Bosch Mag drive - need either mag parts - willing to convert back to old style mag - or complete parts engine - consider crate engine if price is right - Please help as we want this boat in the water this season - Thanks Ron |
