I think we have talked of Electrolytic derusting here and I finally got around to trying it. It is definatly the way to go if you aren't in a hurry. And still may be the way to go even if you are in a hurry. Below are some pump parts before and after. They were in the "soup" for about 8 hours. Also my bucket with anodes attached. You can see the negetive lead from my battery charger that gets hooked to the part to be cleaned. I suspended the parts from a piece of wood using coathangers and small "C" clamps. I used a rusty "C" clamps on the parts in the "soup" so they got cleaned as well as the part. You can google Electrolytic derusting or Electrolysis parts cleaning and find a lot of info. Below is a link that I thought was especially good. derusting info Before and After clean parts and the same parts from the other end of the pump Light scrubbing with a small wire brush after the parts were removed from the "soup" is all that is needed. Bucket with anode connections black lead goes to the part to be cleaned

Looks good Ernie. What did you decide to use for your anode strips? |

Just some sheet metal I had laying around. I would have made them bigger except that was all I had. |
