Hello everyone.
I have found myself with a Greymarine 6 out of a (?)1948 Chris-Craft Sedan.
The boat caught fire during restoration and burnt all the portside, deck and cabin down to about the waterline before extinguished. Carb melted away along with the obvious wiring etc.,etc.. Other than scorching, everything else looks ok. I have kept it full of oil and covered, tho outside.
Question is, should I put some time into redoing this engine or just part it out as is? Or, should I offer it to someone here for free that may need it to complete a project or restore and use. I really don't have time for another project but prier to the fire, it was sent off and professionaly restored to new condition with many new parts and in top notch running order, so I know someone could use it.
I'm in East Tennessee near Greeneville, 13 miles from North Carolina toward Asheville. Reply if anyone is interested or has a comment.
Thanks so much for your time. I can possibly post a picture if need be. I also have 99% of all the heavy metal in the boat such as shafts, rudder Paragon tranny (still bolted to engine),steering, motor mounts etc., etc.. |

Hi, my name is Dan Huntsbarger and I live in Michigan, I am restoring a 1958 chris craft runabout and my engine needs rebuilt. I have been having trouble finding parts. I got this boat cheep. I am trying to get somthing to motor around the lakes with. If you would like to let it go I would be willing to pay you something for it. I could probably come pick it up.

Hi Barney,
I currently have a 1956 custom runabout that has a Gray Marine 110 six cylider inboard engine. Mine was recently rebuilt and now has about 3 hours on it, but since I just bought this boat, I can't tell you exactly by who. However, the Antique and Classic Boat Society certainly could steer you in the right direction.
Previously, I had a 1957 inboard that had a 318 Ford T-Bird engine in it. Sadly, I replaced it with a new 350 Chevy rather than hang on to the original engine. The new engine had a lot of power, but the weight distribution was never right. If there is any way you can rebuild, you're better off keeping the original engine because of the weight/center of gravity distribution. Good luck with it.

Does anyone know how to find topdead center on a flathead 6,with the l-head it appears you can't put a screwchaser down the spark plug hole'I tried the thumb bit'BUT'am ion compression'or exaust? |

I have a 1958 Lyman 23 with a 6 gray marine. Any idea which one this is? and who would be able to convert the generator to 12V and who stocks parts for it? Not sure where the serial # is.
