I have a Kermath Sea - Pup installed in a "Disappearing Propeller" boat in Ontario. Recently we have had a alot of trouble with the magneto failing when the motor gets hot. We have checked into having the original magneto serviced ( a Edison Corp.) and were advised that re-condtioning of the unit may not be possible. A possible solution was offered to retro-fit a new or newer magneto to the motor.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem and what was your solution? Was the motor ever produced by Kermath or Universal as the Atomic (1) supplied with an other type of magneto? if so what type?

Thaks for any help!

Well for tractors there are replacement mags for just about all tractors.Mostly they are wico X mags And they are modified to fit each machine.Rebuild parts for the replacment mags are easy to get and install.A number of places sell them, Valu-bilt is a good place to try.Do you have a base(bottem) mount mag or a flange(side) mount. Its a big plus if you know which tractor used the same engine or mag.

I have a seapup with the edison magneto. I recently had the coil rewound and works great. I have a second coil the works and would be willing to sell it. Ray
