My experience with Fairways was always very positive.
They went to great trouble to look after me when I called in during a visit to the Uk, to look at my R3M being refurbished.
They always responded to my requests for parts promptly, posting them out to Adelaide immediately I ordered them and also replaced a prop that had accidentally been sent with the wrong pitch, without charge.
The 'factory' I saw during my visit was a very small family business in small shed by the estuary, with only one employee/mechanic running the workshop with and Davids wife looking after the office.
I was surprised to read about the negative experiences that some Stuart Turner collectors suffered prior to David Pickops sudden death at age 52.
My understanding was this section of the Fairways business was always very marginal. They supported it only because David appreciated the long history of the Stuart Turner name and wanted to see it continue.
Hopefully someone else who shares David's vision will take up the challenge on Fairways behalf and get the business back up and running.

Just found out about Davids untimely death.
What a damn shame.
RIP David, and thank you for your generosity in 'dusting off the old books' and letting me know the history of my engine free of charge and without me even asking it of you. (http://www.oldmarineengine.com/discus/messages/3436/92062.html)

Regards and best wishes to Lynda for her loss- and efforts to find a buyer to keep the business running.
What a shame if it just disappears as it seems likely to do.

Hans.
