What a great board! I am new to the Gray Marine engines, but the boat has been in my family for 25 years. Please advise.
The boat is a 1954 Century Resorter 16' with a Gray Phantom 6-112
The engine is original to the boat and unfortunately, being from Maryland, the boat was in saltwater for most of it's life. The cylinders have begun to show signs of blow-by and it seems to be time for rebuild. I am very fearful that the water jacket is thin and that the block may not be the best candidate for a rebuild. Here is the engine information:

Block Casting Numbers:
H30R F600A S 6
Head Casting Numbers:
F600A 827 5
It is my understanding that the 112Hp engine utilized the F600A 226 cu-in Continental block. Are there any other applications that may have used glycol, or at least freshwater cooling? I am having a hard time finding a block and was hoping that someone could shed some light on interchangability and sourcing. Thanks in advance. |

Check with Duby marine at [email protected] in Buffalo NY. Hundreds of fresh water graymarine engines in stock for parts or rebuilding. |

Thanks for the tip. I actually already have a call in to John at Duby. He said he would have to check and get back to me.
I am wondering if it is possible to use an industrial block and if so, are there other Continental blocks that will interchange? I didn't get a chance to ask him as it was closing time. Thanks. I guess the flywheel forward configuration is going to limit me unless I can use all of my internals. |
