Any ideas out there on this little one. The copper jacket on this would be quite a bit smaller than a DisPro/Waterman. The way that the base bolts together and the starting catches in the flywheel may help identify. The spark plug gives an idea of the size (11" flywheel).

What a unique original little engine !
Looking closely at photos the dome appears to be rusty like the Flywheel and cylinder is the dome cast iron or brass-copper ?
Is there a timer behind the flywheel ?
Any writing on the top of the grease cups ?
The output end of the crankshaft is missing, maybe waterpump went with it ?

The dome that you're looking at is the inside of the water jacket from what we can tell. I suspect that a copper jug would form the outside with the brass nut on top and a ring on the bottom holding it in place.
There is room for a timer (fibre) behind the flywheel but no sign of it is left.
Grease cups were added later (just for it's photo op). However, it is interesting that the lubricating holes were drilled and tapped on opposite sides of the crank.
The output end has seen better days and there definitely are some pieces missing. The base and shaft have been broken. There very well could have been a water pump fixed horizontally to an extension of the base. I thought for sure that you would have an old ad that would show me what was missing Richard...
All of the main bolts holding the base together have deep hex heads with large, flat screwdriver slots in them.

These are photos taken at a small show in Maine. The engine is believed to be Canadian of unknown make. Some similarities & some differences ... different date of manufacture? Loomis carb not original to engine

Good eye Doug. Thanks for posting those. There certainly are some similarities. Too bad there wasn't a name on that one. |
