I'm looking information for Finnish marine engine. Engine is four cylinder and four stokes bensin engine and works also with petrol(kerosene). It's made in Helsinki Finland pre 1940 By "Ahjon Konepaja". Model name is "Ahjo 12hp". I think that this is a copy of some German / UK / US engine. Somebody seen similar engine? Also need help with carburetor and magneto?

Interesting carburetor body. One has to wonder if someone copied a Schebler Model D and made a few changes with regard to the fuel inlet area.
Jukka can you give us a few more photos of the carburetor? |

You are right Richard, that looks like Scheblers Model D. I think that our engine is "constant speed engine". There is no throttle adjusting possiblities and the engine is rolling 1000rpm when ever there is gasoline and sparks. Most left at the pictures there is air valve screw, similar like in Schebler Model D . Carburetor takes "hot" air also from engine's valve chamber, I think. Hot air intake is that rod most top of picture. Middle there is bowl with floatter. After bowl there is gasoline neadle connected to floater. Most rigt there is Bensin/kerosene intake with switch between Bensin and kerosene.

Thank you so much Jukka. A very interesting version of a model D. I had seen this style carburetor with the air intake on the bottom but not with the fuel inlet setup before. I gather the crankcase ventilation is accomplished at the same time intake air is heated for kerosene operation once the engine is heated up on benzene. Am I correct? |

Thanks Sindre. In Helsinki National library there is manual for Simson engine. I think they only sold it, not manufactured it. Our engine, "Ahjo 12", is only mentioned as an "special product". There is only a small hand drawn picture on the top of that paper. That is only we know about it. |

There is picture of piston. In piston there is number "2038A". Do you know what it means or have you seen similar stamps on your pistons.
