I just recently purchased a sabb g for a boat project. I would like to know what I should look for when it arrives. I would like to make it look good and probably paint her and replace some gaskets and in general make her a bit reliable. I am told the starter is non functional and I don't see the hand crank in the photos, so I would need to find or make one. It has the chain contraption that moves it to the front of the engine. can anyone give me ideas as to what to look for in these engines? Can the starters be rebuilt easily? I would love to find sources for info on the care an maintenance of this engine. I have found alot of (what I presume is) norwegian manuals online. Are there english ones somewhere? Looking forward to having fun with this engine. Thanks in advance for any advice. rich |

(Rich, I have a Sabb 2 H. Once you get the engine torn down and verify that all the crank parts are there, I have a crank you can have. You should be able to get the English manual from the dealer Bill Miller , [email protected], (352) 589-2882- Phone works best. The starter can be overhauled by automotive shop that does that work- You may need a shut off switch to cut the main power to the starter- My local guy must have messed up the solenoid windings. If the motor starts, the bendix will drop out otherwise I have to shut the main power off. Good Luck. |
