I'm not sure where to post this question so this will have to do. There is a picture on the Trebert links of a man holding a 34 hp engine that is "For a successful Racing motor boat or fast cruiser". The print in the add list 34 hp 4 cylinder, 75hp 4 cylinder, and 150 hp 8 cylinder. The picture seems to be of a single overhead cam cross flow type engine. It is noted as a 1906 add for the Brownell-Trebert Co. Does anybody know of an existing Trebert 75 hp 4 cylinder 4 stroke? Thanks for any info or pictures. TR |

The man is Harry Trebert himself, I think. The picture is rather badly faked as Mr. Trebert appears to be levitating rather than lifting the engine. Lightest 34 hp of that time was a Elbridge Racing C from 1908. I have one and it weighs 225 lbs. I don't know of any Trebert of any size still around, let alone a big one. |

Foxman, Thanks for the post. I have learned of a 75 hp Trebert (the type in the picture) that has been under deep cold fresh water since 1922 and I am trying to determine its status in the evolutionary chain in engine development. It seems to me that an aluminum block with a single overhead cam and cross flow head would be quite advanced for 1906. It sounds like you have an interesting engine, I would like to see a picture if you don't mind posting it up. It may have some clues for me. Thanks TR |
