I replaced by 4108 perkins with a Nissan ED22 from Diecon Engineering. I didnt change the water intake as it used the same size hose as the 4108. When I first installed it, it appeared to keep quite cool, but now it heats up very quickly. I did have a problem with soot build up in the exhaust which I cured. There is little or no smoke now but i am concerned with that it heats up very quickly and almost boils at about 2100 rpm. My concern is that the exhaust may be restricting - does anyone know a way of checking for back pressure on the exhaust? |

tap into the exhaust outlet and put an inches of water guage in it. run the engine through its cycle and see what you get for a reading. |
