Hi Ernie,

Thanks for the pics of the Model B. I agree that it is 1912 but possibly even 1911 as there are just enough differences between it and a larger 1911 that I have. It is a beautiful thing!

Who owns it and is it slated for restoration?

Cheers,

Lew

Sterling B Marine Engine, haven't been able to positively date this eng yet could be 1911-12ca
haven't been able to find early catalogs for Sterling marine engines-- I keep looking !

This one seems to have very little wear inside, but I do like to take the old ones apart and look through them before trying to run them !

Hi Richard,

Nice looking engine. A fun one. One of the reasons I think it is a 1911 is do to the spoked flywheel. I "think" that changed on the model B low speed and medium speed engines at the end of 1911. They dropped the spoked wheel and went to the same solid wheel as the high speed model B and many other engines.

What else does the name plate say? Hard to make the rest out in the pic? I am looking into someone to either repair or reproduce these porcelain name tags as mine are the same as yours for my R1-135.

Cheers,

Lew

Also Richard,

Is that a Berling or a Bosch mag? What model?

Cheers,

Lew

WOW! what a nice old engine... If you don't mind me asking where did you come across that one? I believe I would make sure everything is in good working order and leave it just the way it is. Looks great.
