I need to know the year and hp of my motor - it is an evinrude Big twin - I was told a 25 horse- but after ordering the crank sheer pin this can not be. Where are teh numbers located - I tink it is a 1970. and everything fits but the sheer pin. I found the number 25002E on te freeze plug. Does anyone know the evinrud big twin motor? Thanks |

The numbers should be located on the transom clamp bracket underneath the front of the engine cowling. The freeze plug # is just for the plug type. OMC/Evinrude made Big Twins for many years(1950's-late 60's?), so it's almost impossible to tell without a picture. If the cowl is light blue and black it's early 50's. If the cowl is shaped like a mailbox it should be late 50's early 60's. Photo would help. I don't follow what a crank shear pin is? Do you mean Propellor shaft shear pin. |
