I have a 1972 5 hp Kermath Sea Pup gas engine in my sailboat that is blowing oil out of the transmission breather tube located at the back top of the transmission when the trannie is in gear... Anyone know why or how to fix it? Anyone know anyone who does this kind of work near Brooklyn NY? Or any used trannies for sale or any new ones that are adaptable?
Thanks,

Michael Keane

Hello Mike...I have a Sea Pup which is slowly coming together and had a look at my transmission which is off the engine. The transmission and the engine share the same oil so there is no dip stick or oil filler hole in the transmission and therefor no need for a breather. Plug it. If your tranny has separate oil then you probably need a breather which doubles as a fill hole. If this is the case then if oil comes out when you put it in gear you simply have too much oil in the tranny
