My 1970 Seafarer 31 flooded out due to my stupidity by not closing the seacock for the raw water strainer last January. Sidney Smith from Smith Corp Marine stopped by my boat last weekend and in about 4 hours time Sid had my P60 purring like a kitten after being totally submerged in salt water. To anyone in the Baltimore area who may need help I would and do highly recommend him.
Prior to contacting Sid, I called a few marinas that either laughed at the Palmer or tried to sell me a new motor. Fortunately I am a shade tree mechanic and knew the motor was not ruined and just needed a little TLC. I posted a request on this board for a mechanic, Sid replied as well as Richard Day with transmission support. Thank you to everyone on this board for sharing their knowledge. I am sure my P60 will last many years as a result of Old Marine Engines.com and my new mechanic Sid. |

I'm looking for a mechanic in the Stamford CT area to come out and get my mercruiser 165 straight 6 running. I forgot to take out the hull drain plug over the winter and the boat filled with water covering about 1/2 of the engine. There is now water in the oil and I can't get the starter to crank over...it just clicks. I just need to get it running... |

Your starter has water in it and it wont drain out. Get a rebuilt starter and change the oil,hopefully the distributor did not get water in it. If you have the chevy 292 the starter is relatively cheap and has 3 bolts that stick in from the bottem. My uncle did the same thing. |
