Hi, just bought a boat and need help identifying the make and if possible the model of the engine, as I need to replace the filters. The name plate has been painted over then scraped off!! It has 3 cylinders and is diesel. Hope you can help |

The picture came out terrible on my screen, need a better one or two. If it has a blower it could be a detroit diesel or english made GM. Maybe 353 model. |

Golden rule, if tha castings anywhere have 'MOWOG' as a foundry mark, its BMC,Nuffield, Leyland. All BMC marine engines are marinised vehicle units, usually by 3rd parties like Tempest, Thornycroft etc. The later units have the engine swept volume in litres cast in the outside of the block near the pulley end. hope this helps. Sam. |
