We put a St. Lawrence engine from Brockville, Ontario in our skiff-putt as the fellow who bought it was a shareholder in the St. Lawrence Engine Co. and he wanted one of those.
My hubby considered if he made another one he might put a YanMar diesel in it...a smaller engine....something for himself.

I will have to show you some inside and rudder pictures of ours. The fairly long shaft had a steady bearing half way between the motor and the stern. We have pictures of the engine too. I have to scan them first.
We have just finished restoring a 17' St. Lawrence skiff that was in worse shape than yours....it had holes in the bottom of it!
With a St Lawrence in a boat like that it sure must shake a lot. Looks as if the prop has a high pitch ( 18?) to keep the engine loaded down well. Nice rudder too.
