I came home with a nice 6hp L-A. This engine has serial number 60035, I think this makes it the 35th model 46 6hp produced. It's complete and has good compression. The timer wasn't turning, after inspecting I found the flywheel had backed off, leaving the drive gear free spinning. This engine has a lot of the original paint, I think I;ll just clean it up and keep it as is for now. J.B.

Brad,
If you want you could post a picture of it here and someone might be able to help you "ID" it and give some indication of sales price.... but... prices vary. Much depends on condition and "completeness".
You could advertise it in our classifieds section, on ebay, or at Harry's site. Or take it to a local farm engine show. Shipping is always a problem if the buyer isn't reasonably local.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Andrew Menkart

PS: if you have any trouble posting the picture, just email it to me and I will post it here for you.

Hi. My name is art. I would really like to see your Lockwood-Ash as I was told I might have one. I always thought I had a Palmer, aprox 3 hp. , one cylinder,Cuno timer, with a Lunkenhimer [carberator].Bought it when I was 17 Yrs. old, installed it in a rowboat and greate fun for two summers. Now that I'm retired I'll show it at the gassup this summer.

Hi, My name is Dick Gibbens. This is my Lockwood Ash 6 HP that I have in a 20 foot cypress boat. It's fun to operate, reverses on the run and self starts almost always after warming up. I like to use 100 Octane Aviation fuel.

Found this reference to factory paint colors in a
1913 Lockwood-Ash catalog. These were the old style twins with the intake manifold at the bottom
of the cylinder casting. 1923 catalog shows
intake manifold mounted midway on cylinder casting
as on Dicks engine (photo above), anyone know what year this change took place? and did the factory paint colors remain the same in later years?? L A

I'm Jack, located in the Col. River area in Oregon. Recently traded for a Lockwood Ash 5 HP, 4cycle, single cyl inboard Model 41, serial #594. I have looked all over the web for any info on this model engine, found nothing as yet. It has been fitted with a model T Ford carb. What carb is this engine suposed to have? What magneto? What rotation direction? Would appreciate any help a great deal.

The model 41 was built to use model T parts, they were common and relatively inexpensive compared to marine parts.Lockwood Ash had their own label on these engs, as well as the Motorgo tag, that was familiar in the Sears catalogs. On the old web
site that disappeared, we had a discussion on this subject of Marine Eng makers that designed engs using the model T parts, it was a sizable list! This Ad was 1923.

I saw it and bid on it, but I think you are over stating how rare it is, I did bid on it, but I think I have reached my limit on that, It would cost $350 to ship it or $150 in fuel to pick it up, Good luck gary

Hey Roy,
The best bet is to come on down to Louisiana in late March and you can take pictures, measurements, and see what other folks have done.
I know it's a bit of a stretch, but I do the trip each year from Toronto, Canada
